Hands-on: Educational programs are offered at White
Deer Park, coordinating with school curriculum standards from
kindergarten through high school.
Mentors: The Protecting, Healing and Teaching
(P.H.A.T) Kids Mentoring Program now has a program at the Avery Street
Recreation Center. The goal? To help young people build character and
life skills through exposure to colleges, the arts and the world of
work.
Winners: Garner presented its first-ever Residential
and Commercial Property of the Month Awards earlier this year, designed
to help preserve and enhance the value of properties in Garner.

accepted the 2009 All American Award from the National Relay for Life
Organization on behalf of the Garner community.

the Wake County Senior Games SilverArts in the Large Dance Group
Category, and won overall at the 2010 Wake County Senior Games. The

For the birds: Garner co-sponsored this year’s NC
Bluebird Society’s Annual Meeting. This nonprofit organization works to
ensure the future of the Eastern Bluebird and other cavity-nesting birds
native to North Carolina.
Go green: Garner held its first Earth Day: Get Your

The day included a litter sweep, nature and green exhibits, raptor
